City Launches Pedestrian Accessibility Map
April 20, 2026
Following a presentation at today’s Council meeting, the City is pleased to launch a new Pedestrian Accessibility Map, available from the City’s website and Let’s Talk Parksville.
The interactive map identifies accessible parking stalls, washrooms, pathways, and community amenities, along with elevation details for sidewalks and trails. Created by the City’s GIS staff, the map provides benefits to the public:
- Improves independence by allowing residents and visitors to plan routes that best meet their accessibility needs.
- Increase awareness of accessibility features and barriers throughout the City.
- Supports informed decision making for daily travel, recreation and access to services.
Whether using a mobility aid, pushing a stroller or getting around a challenging terrain, this map can help plan the safest route. The City of Parksville recognizes the importance of accessibility for everyone.
