City of Parksville Use of Grants Funding in 2025

In 2025, a variety of City of Parksville projects were supported by grant funding. The City gratefully acknowledges the funding utilized for the projects which are detailed here.

From the Canada Community-Building Fund Community Works Fund Reserve, with original funding from the Government of Canada, the City allocated about $188,000 in 2025.

  • Transportation Master Plan - $14,700
  • Relocation of sandcastle exhibit in Parksville Community Park $100,000
  • PLC renewal - $73,300

From the Growing Communities Fund Reserve, with original funding from the Province of BC, the City allocated about $1,073,000 in 2025.

  • Drinking Water Master Plan - $232,000
  • Major crack sealing - $51,000
  • Parksville Civic and Technology Centre radio towers - $123,000
  • Asphalt overlays - $667,000

Additional grant funding allocations are detailed here:

  • From the Province of BC Local Government Climate Action Plan Funding Program, the City allocated about $82,000 for urban forestry strategy implementation, Parksville Community Park beach ramp removal, and solar panels at the Arrowsmith Dam.
  • From the Province of BC’s Next Generation 911 Funding Program, about $5,400 of funding was used for the City’s civic addressing project.
  • From the Province of BC’s Community Resiliency Investment Program, about $11,400 was used towards a Wildfire Protection Plan.
  • From the Province of BC’s Community Emergency Preparedness Fund, $40,000 was used towards an equipment cleaner for Parksville Fire Rescue, about $40,000 was used towards an emergency operations training centre exercise program, and $13,600 towards attendance at an emergency support services conference.
  • The City received $15,000 from the Government of Canada, Department of Canadian Heritage for Parksville Canada Day celebrations in 2025.
