Sport Facilities Upgrades

In May, upgrades will begin at three City of Parksville sports facilities.

Parksville Community Park:

Pickleball Courts – the remaining tennis court will be converted to four dedicated pickleball courts for a total of eight dedicated pickleball courts in the existing court. Completion is expected by the end of June.

Lacrosse Box - Removal and replacement of the existing lacrosse box structure is part of a community civil works tender award approved by Council. Upgrade to the multi-sport structure project will include new boards, fencing and associated recreation infrastructure. This multi-sport facility accommodates lacrosse, pickleball and basketball. Completion date is undetermined.

Springwood Park:

Resurfacing of the six dedicated tennis courts will be scheduled as early as the weather permits and contractor availability. Completion is expected by the end of June.

In the 2026-2030 financial plan, Parksville Council approved a 2026 capital construction budget of $715,000, funded partially through the Growing Communities Fund - Province of BC. Total cost of the upgrades is $653,822. The contract award was approved by Council at the April 8 meeting and the report may be viewed at this link.
