Who Does What in Local Government

Do you know who manages which services in your community?

During this election period, the City of Parksville has been hearing from residents and community members about various popular topics surrounding levels of service in government, water conservation, housing and affordability, and other community related themes. Over the next couple of weeks, we're going to highlight some of these topics and provide information to hopefully help you understand a bit more about them.

To kick off this series, we're going to look at 'who does what' when it comes to government services. Some levels of government manage services that others might not. For example, health care related services usually fall under provincial (BC) or federal (Canada) levels of service, whereas something like local road maintenance or water treatment plant operations would fall under a municipal (Parksville) bucket.
