At 9 am on October 20, 2026, the official election results were confirmed by the Chief Election Officer. The official results for the municipal election held on October 17 are as follows:

The total number of ballots cast for this election was 4,931, which represents a 38.9% voter turnout (based on the estimated number of 12,680 eligible voters). Voter turnout for past elections was 34.4% in 2022, 43.3% in 2018, and 35.2% in 2014. Official documentation is available on the City’s Election Information page.

The 2026-2030 Mayor and Council will be officially sworn in at the inaugural meeting on Monday, November 2, 2026 at 1 pm in the Forum at the Parksville Civic and Technology Centre (100 Jensen Avenue East).

Below are the preliminary results for the municipal election held on October 17, 2026. The total number of ballots cast in the City of Parksville was 4,931 (representing a 38.9% voter turnout), including advance voting and mail-in ballots.

The preliminary election results were made by the Chief Election Officer on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 8:45 pm. The official election results will be announced before 4 pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

Mayor and Council will be officially sworn in at the inaugural meeting at 1 pm on Monday, November 2 at the Forum in the Civic and Technology Centre (100 Jensen Ave E). Do you know who manages which services in your community?

During this election period, the City of Parksville has been hearing from residents and community members about various popular topics surrounding levels of service in government, water conservation, housing and affordability, and other community related themes. Over the next couple of weeks, we're going to highlight some of these topics and provide information to hopefully help you understand a bit more about them.

To kick off this series, we're going to look at 'who does what' when it comes to government services. Some levels of government manage services that others might not. For example, health care related services usually fall under provincial (BC) or federal (Canada) levels of service, whereas something like local road maintenance or water treatment plant operations would fall under a municipal (Parksville) bucket.

Use the handy graphic below to understand specifically who does what and how it impacts your day-to-day life.

For this municipal election, eligible electors may apply to vote by mail:

• Electors must meet voter qualifications and submit a mail ballot application form.
• Mail ballot applications will be available online by September 1, 2026.
• Mail ballot packages will be mailed or available for pickup at City Hall once ballots are available in late September 2026.
• Mail ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer by no later than 8 pm on October 17, 2026, to be counted.

Interesting in running for office in this year's municipal election? The City of Parksville will host information sessions for those interested in running for Mayor or Councillor. Sessions are geared to potential candidates and campaign workers; however, anyone interested is welcome to join a session.

Information sessions will be held in the Forum, Parksville Civic and Technology Centre (100 Jensen Avenue East) as follows:

• Tuesday, July 14, from 10.30 to noon
• Wednesday, September 2, from 1.30 to 3 pm

These sessions will cover the information prospective candidates need to know about the upcoming election, including the Municipal Elections Act, responsibilities of elected officials, expected time commitment and compensation, election sign regulations, required forms and documents, key dates, and more. Staff will be available to answer questions. We encourage prospective candidates to RSVP to election-official@parksville.ca.

Nomination Filing Period

• The nomination filing period runs from 9 am on Tuesday, September 1 to 4 pm on Friday, September 11. Nomination packages will not be accepted prior to 9 am on September 1 or after 4 pm on September 11. Appointments are recommended.
• Nomination packages will be available from the City’s administration offices during regular office hours
  (8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays) from 9 am on Friday, July 24 to 4 pm on Friday, September 11.

The municipal election will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, to elect one Mayor, six Councillors, and two School Board Trustees (Electoral Area G).

Local government elections in British Columbia are held every four years. The City of Parksville municipal Council is made up of a Mayor and six Councillors, each to be elected for a four-year term.

The election for the City of Parksville is set for Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 8 am to 8 pm at the Jensen Centre and Parksville Fellowship Baptist Church. Advance voting will be held on Wednesday, October 7 and Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 8 am to 8 pm at the Jensen Centre, 132 Jensen Avenue East.
