  • Are there lots of bathrooms

    The Parksville Outdoor Theatre is managed for the City by the Parksville Beach Festival Society and for special events such as concerts, a number of portable washrooms, including accessible washrooms, are brought in for larger events. There are a bank of portable washrooms to the north of the theatre. Within the Parksville Community Park there are a number of washroom buildings - near the waterfront gazebo/gathering plaza, near the large gravel parking lot and near the lacrosse box.

    Great question! This is a challenge for us ongoing. The address is 193 Island Highway East (the Beachside Drive address is incorrect). We continue to change where we see it, one of the major issues is Google listings which are difficult to change. As well, sometimes groups and organizations holding events in the Parksville Community Park will use an address other than 193 Island Highway East. 

    The correct name is the Parksville Outdoor Theatre, it is how the space is branded by the City. So many folk use "stage" but theatre is it.

    Concerts, hosted by the Parksville Beach Festival Society are part of the Tim Hortons summer concert series which runs to August 20 and these are free. Beach Festival is sponsoring "Rock the Park" the weekend of August 5-7 and there is a cost for tickets.     Council approved award of the construction contract to Copcan Civil Ltd at the October 4 meeting. Construction is scheduled to begin in December with completion of the project in early June 2022.

  • Hi! Can you tell me which contractor is doing the groundwork/ excavation for the new outdoor theatre and gathering plaza, and when work will start? Thanks!

    The contractor has not yet been chosen and will be determined in accordance with City purchasing policy and inter-provincial trade agreements. The construction tender for the theatre will be publicly tendered following the completion of engineering for the civil works and issuance of the building permit. Following the tender process, Council will receive a report about award of the work.

    We are at final design with construction to begin on the outdoor stage spring of this year. Construction on the gathering plaza will start in 2022.
