Data Collection for Transportation Master Plan

Data collection for the City’s transportation master plan will begin on Monday, July 24 with completion expected on August 2. Vehicle traffic and pedestrians will not be impacted by the installation of the data collection devices.

At the July 5 meeting, Council approved award of a contract to consultant, McElhanney Ltd, for a transportation master plan, which will help guide the City’s infrastructure renewal, upgrade, and development cost charge programs, provide information on required levels of funding. The contract value is $149,810 plus GST.

McElhanney Ltd will install Miovision and Houston Radar data collection equipment at several City intersections and midblock locations, focussed on the downtown core. The equipment will measure vehicle speeds, volumes, and turning movements, and the data collected will be used to provide baseline information about existing traffic conditions and volumes through the City.
