Alberni Sidewalk Project

The Alberni Sidewalk is a pedestrian improvement project that will occur along the Alberni Highway from Bernard Avenue to Lee Avenue. The project scope includes:

  • Two crosswalks over the Alberni Highway at Bernard Ave. and Hickey Avenue
  • Construction of almost 500m of new sidewalk along the east side of the Alberni Highway
  • Addition of streetlights
  • A required retaining wall in a section between Stanford Avenue West and Marks Avenue.

Two-way traffic is expected to be maintained for the project as much as possible, with periods of single-lane alternating during the day.

As noted in the 2025 Transportation Master Plan:
