Parksville is excited to welcome e-bike and e-scooter sharing to our City! The new zero-emission transportation service by Evolve offers residents and visitors a fun, affordable and sustainable way to move around the City.

Powered by BCAA and operated by a BC-based team, Evolve is part of our commitment to provide accessible transportation alternatives that meet the needs of our community. As part of a larger effort to reduce emissions and support active transportation, this program reflects Parksville’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and a connected city for all.

Evolve’s smart devices are made specifically for shared use. With GPS tracking, anti-theft design and continuous system monitoring, the program ensures the service runs smoothly for everyone. The City of Parksville and Evolve will continue to collaborate on station locations, slow zones and active infrastructure to meet the needs of our community.

How it works
Evolve E-Bikes and E-Scooters can be booked through an Evo app. After a free sign-up, new members can use the Evo App to see where their nearest e-bike is and book it by selecting a pin or scanning a bike’s QR code, starting and ending each trip at the push of a button. Each Evolve device includes complimentary use of a helmet, should members not have their own with them.

Getting started is simple:

  • Download the Evo App - Available on Android and iOS. Once you’re signed up, you can locate, unlock and ride Evolve E-bikes and E-scooters using your smartphone.
  • Choose Your Ride - Parksville has 20 E-bikes and 30 E-scooters. Devices will be available at over 10 locations throughout the City. A map of all locations can be found on the Evo-app.
  • Park Responsibly - All rides must start and end in designated Evolve Parking Zones. These locations have been selected based on accessibility, GPS signal strength and community convenience.

    New pilot program will bring 50 shared e-bikes and e-scooters to more than 10 stations across the City of Parksville.

    Residents and visitors in Parksville will soon have a new way to get around with Evolve, created by BCAA, launching this month. As part of a new pilot program, Evolve will introduce 20 e-bikes and 30 e-scooters, offering a convenient and flexible way to move around the City.

    Evolve e-bikes and e-scooters will be available from more than 10 stations across Parksville, including:

    • Resort and tourism areas – Connecting the resort area near Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park to support visitors travelling between accommodations, beaches and local amenities.
    • Parksville downtown – Providing convenient access to shops, restaurants and services in central Parksville, helping residents and visitors move easily through downtown.
    • Retail and commercial hubs – Extending west toward major destinations such as Quality Foods, making it easier to travel for everyday errands.
    • Key community connections – Linking residential areas, local businesses and recreational destinations to support short trips without needing a car.

    The program launch will be held on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, from 10 am to 11 am at the Parksville Civic and Technology Centre. Light refreshments will be available, and attendees can spin a prize wheel for giveaways and program materials. We hope you will join the Evolve team and Parksville Council to celebrate this exciting new initiative for Parksville.

    From 10 am to 1 pm, residents will have the opportunity to test e-bikes and e-scooters, learn about program benefits, and speak with Evolve staff for guidance, questions and a walkthrough of how the program works.

    To celebrate Earth Day, all rides on April 22 will be free. Riders can take unlimited 30-minute trips throughout the day and only pay the $1.25 unlock fee per ride.

    Ride safe with Evolve
    Each Evolve e-bike and e-scooter comes equipped with built-in safety features like automatic lights, turn signals, and a shared helmet system to help ensure every ride is a safe one. To further support safe riding, Evolve will be hosting safety events in the community where riders can learn the rules of the road, practice safe riding habits, and get hands-on experience with e-bikes and e-scooters.

    Evolve e-bike and e-scooter share, created by BCAA, is a made-in-BC service offering affordable and convenient micromobility options for communities across the province. The launch in Parksville is part of Evolve’s continued growth on Vancouver Island, building on existing programs in Nanaimo and the Comox Valley Regional District, and expanding to connect more communities across the region.
