  • Hi there. I’m a neighbour of the roundabout on Temple Street at Rushton Ave. Call me crazy, but I am in favour of removing the small roundabout and adding stop signs on Rushton. Too many times have people come zipping up to the roundabout, quickly check side to side, and nearly hit vehicles leading to a lot of honking, hard braking, and yelling. With having the roundabout there as well has an increased level of noise pollution since many people floor it back up to 50 on motor bikes, large trucks, and other such noise emitters. Just today I witnessed someone not ever slow down at all going through the roundabout and only slammed her brakes on when some kids came up to the crosswalk. I think it’s in the best interest for public safety to just install stop signs and ditch the redundant roundabout. I’m hoping to get this concern to the correct individual. Thank you.

  • Re; Stage 4 restrictions Why does your website differ from what the local Parksville Qualicum Beach Newspaper shows. Some one has their wires crossed and people are confused

The information on our website and Let's Talk Parksville is correct. If you wish clarification and believe there is a discrepancy, please email info@parksville.ca.

  • Needing to do some powerwashing around the condo. Any idea when I can get it done. Lots of rainy days ahead.

For now, until further notice, the City is in stage 4 water conservation which restricts outdoor watering. The link to the bylaw is here https://www.parksville.ca/cms/wpattachments/wpID377atID7171.pdf

The reason for these restricts is explained in this release https://www.parksville.ca/cms/wpattachments/wpID135atID12070.pdf

  • Hi, I am very disappointed that Parksville City Council has not found physical space (or space in their hearts), to open up a cold/wet weather shelter here in town for the winter. I've watched the news and have read the local paper and it seems that City Council just wants to download the "problem" onto neighbouring communities such as Nanaimo. I volunteer in Parksville and know that: a) people are suffering....they need help, warmth and compassion; b) not all folks have substance abuse issues...in fact some are seniors or are on disability and c) many of them are from this community and went to school here. Forcing them to go to another community because Parksville doesn't want to deal with them is not OK. I understand finding a more permanent solution would be great, but Council needs to do that in the Spring not when cold and wet weather is upon us. Please find some empathy and do the right thing by opening a shelter right away. Thank you.

  • Can you please tell me where resurfacing and/or repainting of pickleball courts stands for the Lacrosse pen in Community Park? I recall this particular project was supposed to have been implemented along with the resurfacing/reconfiguring of the tennis courts in the park. I inquired about the Lacrosse pen some time ago and was told it was yet to come before Council for formal approval. Please advise where this stands together with who I need to contact in order to move this project forward. Thank you.

Hello, a report for Council consideration will be brought forward at a regular Council meeting, most likely in July. Meetings in July are scheduled for July 5 or July 17 with agendas posted to our website the Thursday before the meeting..

  • Will you be accepting feedback from bands and musicians and performers who will be the ones performing on the new outdoor stage? The Parksville Museum built a stage but it is not that functional. There is a cement barrier between the stage and the grass which does not make sense. Musicians have little room to move around and connect with the audience. Also, as an avid dancer, I can tell you that most people do not like to dance on grass. It is ok for little kids but the senior crowd does not like twisting an ankle on uneven surfaces. Considering the demographics of Oceanside you should take this into consideration. There should be a smooth hard surface in front of the stage for dancing and a grass surface further back. You should also look into incorporating some kind of outdoor heating for this area. In light of the pandemic, more events are moving outside. We have such a short season of ideal outdoor weather. If there were movable heaters that you could implement into the plan it could extend the season of the outdoor stage and the facility would get much more use.

  • What is happening to the trail above Despard

Norma Morgan asked about 4 years ago

Hello. If you are referring to the Coldwater Road side of the Parksville Wetlands, work on trails in the Parksville Wetlands started in 2019. The work continues to update for these trails for walking, maintenance and emergency access for fire protection.
